Where to Start
Congratulations! You have already begun the first step toward better sleep, research. In order to learn how to sleep better you must first know what is causing your sleeplessness. If you are like most people suffering poor sleep or a lack of sleep, you know that you cannot sleep, but do not know why. If you fall into this category it is important to first get some background knowledge on sleep. Click the tab title The Science of Sleep at the top of the page to learn what sleep is, why we sleep, and how we sleep.
If you already have some background knowledge on sleep, you may want to skip to the tab titled Sleep Disorders. This page will give you an overview of some common sleep disorders. By reviewing the disorders and their symptoms, you may be able to identify which disorder(s) you are affected by, or at least rule out some of the most common disorders.
The most common sleep disorder is insomnia. If you have already been diagnosed with insomnia or only want information about insomnia, select the Insomnia tab. This will inform you on the different types of insomnia, the symptoms of insomnia, and some common causes of insomnia.
